Back-to-school time is here for kids in some parts of the country. In the Pacific Northwest, though, we still have a few more sweet end-of-the-summer days to savor.
That leaves a bit more time for a little carefree summer entertainment—and a chance to offer one of my favorite anytime-of-the-year viewing suggestions for young history buffs: the long-gone, but for some of us, never forgotten animated series Liberty’s Kids.
This week, I offer a tribute to it, and—just in case all the rip-roaring Revolutionary War drama whets your kids’ appetites—my modern adaptation of an all-but-forgotten colonial-era recipe that makes great use of all the beautiful end-of-summer blueberries that are so plentiful right now.
