I love it when a cooking project somehow involves a great book. That’s why this week, I’m offering a simple menu that also offers an excuse to celebrate Maurice Sendak’s charming little 1962 classic, Chicken Soup with Rice.
An easy but tasty pot of homemade soup. A hunk of from-scratch savory cheese bread, quickly assembled from biscuit dough, to dunk in it. A rollicking rhyme full of delicious absurdity and food. Maybe even the chance to belt out a tune, if you listen to Carole King’s song version of it while you work. An afternoon of cooking doesn’t get much better than this.
